It’s one of the questions we hear most at SP Bespoke Resin Flooring, and the honest answer is that it depends on what you’re comparing it to.
The upfront cost vs. the long-term value
Epoxy resin flooring can cost more at installation than carpet, laminate or vinyl. But it’s a seamless, hard-wearing surface that can last for many years with very little maintenance. There’s no replacing worn planks, re-gluing tiles or deep cleaning grout lines. Over time, many homeowners and businesses find it works out as good value.
What affects the price?
No two floors are the same, which is why we quote each job individually. The main factors are:
- Size of the area: Larger floors often work out cheaper per square metre.
- Condition of the existing floor: Cracks, damp or uneven concrete may need repairs or preparation before the resin goes down.
- Type of system: A standard epoxy floor costs less than a high build epoxy resin system, which is thicker and built for heavy-duty commercial and industrial use.
- Finish and design: Decorative epoxy resin floors, such as metallic effects, flakes and bespoke colour blends, involve more skill and materials than a plain single-colour finish.
- Residential or commercial needs: A garage floor and a busy warehouse have very different requirements for thickness, slip resistance and durability.
Why cheaper isn’t always better
Epoxy flooring is only as good as the preparation and installation behind it. A low price can mean shortcuts, such as poor surface preparation, thin coats or low-grade materials. These lead to peeling, bubbling and early wear, and you end up paying twice. A properly installed floor from a specialist is built to last.
Is it worth it?
For most people, yes. Epoxy floors are:
- Durable and resistant to impacts, stains and chemicals
- Easy to clean and hygienic
- Available in a huge range of colours and finishes
- Suitable for homes, garages, kitchens, shops, workshops and industrial spaces
