Why You Must Test Your Embedded Logo Before Pouring High Build Epoxy Resin

An embedded logo is one of the most striking features you can add to an epoxy resin floor. Whether it’s a company emblem in a showroom, a branded entrance in an office, or a custom design in a home, it gives the floor a finish that is truly bespoke. But before any logo goes under a high build epoxy resin, there’s one question that has to be answered: will the resin actually bond to it?

Not all logos are created equal

Logos are made from many materials, including vinyl, laminated print, acrylic, metal, rubber and composite. Most are also finished with a surface coating such as a lacquer, UV protective layer, wax or silicone-based release film. These are designed to make a logo durable and easy to clean, which is exactly why epoxy struggles to grip them.

What happens if the resin doesn’t adhere?

If the epoxy can’t bond to the logo’s surface, problems can appear quickly:

  • Lifting or peeling around the edges of the logo
  • Bubbles or air pockets trapped beneath the surface
  • Delamination, where the coating separates from the logo
  • A cloudy or uneven finish over the design

Once a high build epoxy floor has cured, putting this right means grinding out and redoing the work, which costs time and money for you and for us.

The solution: test first

At SP Bespoke Resin Flooring, we always recommend an adhesion test before the logo is installed. Supplying us with a spare logo or sample lets us check how the resin behaves on the surface. If needed, we can recommend preparation such as light abrasion or a suitable primer so the logo is locked in properly.

A little planning up front means a crisp, durable, long-lasting result that looks as good in years to come as it does on day one.
